Mt. Pulaski Surges Late to Roll Past Decatur LSA in First Round Playoff Game

The Mt. Pulaski bats came to life late and helped the Hilltoppers surge past Decatur LSA 12-2, ten-run rule win in first-round Class 1A Regional semifinal win in high school boy's baseball action Wednesday from Mt. Pulaski High School.

 

Clayton Aylesworth drove in four runs with a double and RBI sacrifice fly. Jackson Fricke finished 1-for-3 with two RBIs apiece. Landon Smith tripled going 2-for-2 and scored three times with a run batted in. 

 

Smith struck out 11 over five innings of two-run ball, one was earned. He allowed two hits and walked three. 

 

Gavin Smith struck out the side in a scoreless sixth inning to put the game away. Liam Smith had a double and drove in two. 

 

The Hilltoppers advance to Saturday's Regional Championship game opposite the winner of this afternoon's matchup between Champaign St. Thomas More and Argenta-Oreana.
