Dawson Magrini's big day at the plate helped Champaign St. Thomas More overcome a fast start by Mt. Pulaski and lead the Sabres to an upset of the top-seed Hilltoppers 7-5 in Class 1A high school boy's baseball Regional final action from Mt. Pulaski High School Monday afternoon.

The Regional final was rained out Saturday and moved to Monday.

Magrini reached base four times finishing 3-for-3 with a double, triple and a walk. He was a home run short of the cycle. Magrini drove in one. Wilson Kirby and Drew Staab drove in two runs apiece. Ryan Hendrickson drove in another run for STM. 

Kirby and Andrew Tay finished 2-for-3. Tay doubled for the Sabres.

Evan Cooper, Landon Smith, and Chance Payne each had two hits apiece for the Hilltoppers. Payne reached base all four times at bat for Mt. Pulaski drawing two walks. 

Evan Cooper, Smith, Payne, Lucas Kuhlman and Gavin Smith had RBIs for the Hilltoppers who finish the season 22-6 overall. Gavin Smith and Aylesworth doubled.

The Sabres are 12-11 overall. They advance to host Armstrong Wednesday at 4:30 pm at Champaign St. Thomas More High School in Sectional semifinal action.
