The Illinois State baseball team had its single-elimination game against Missouri State in the Missouri Valley Conference Tournament suspended after eight innings in a game that featured two rain delays, totaling more than four hours at Hammons Field on Tuesday.
The game is scheduled to resume at 10:00 a.m. CT Wednesday with Missouri State leading, 9-4.
Third-year Ryan Cermak provided a key two-run double to put the 'Birds up, 4-2, in the 5th innings before the first delay (three hours and 33 minutes). Missouri State homered in four-straight innings to take control prior to the second delay (35 minutes unofficially)
Illinois State finished 2022 at 20-31 overall while Missouri State (26-26 overall) is scheduled to play an opponent still to be determined at a time to be determined on Wednesday.
