HS Football Polls: Monticello Out of 3A Top Ten; Maroa-Forsyth Enter 2A Top 5

After a disappointing 21-14 loss to start the season against St. Joseph-Ogden, the Monticello Sages fell out of the week one top 10 Class 3A high school football polls. 

 

Ranked no. 9 in the preseason, the Sages fell behind early and could not capitalize on opportunities late to get past the Spartans and did not receive any votes in his week's poll.

 

Fellow Illini Prairie Conference rival Tolono Unity also fell out of the poll with its week one 34-12 loss to Prairie Central. 

 

The Hawks of Prairie Central used a big week one win to enter the poll this week at no. 7.

 

IC Catholic is the no. 1 team in 3A followed by Reed-Custer, Williamsville, Princeton and Byron. Mt. Carmel and Eureka fall ahead of Prairie Central at 6-7, respectively. 

 

Newcomers to the 3A poll Durand-Pecatonica and Hillsboro round out the top 10.

The Central Illinois Conference's Tuscola jumps into this week's Class 1A poll while Central A&M jumped a spot to no. 3. Lena-Winslow remains the top team followed by Athens. Ridgeview and Forreston round out the top 5. 

 

Camp Point Central jumps from no. 10 to no. 6 followed by Fulton at no. 7 in the 1A poll. Iroquois West fell from no. 7 to no. 9 this week and Hope Academy and Jacksonville Routt tied for tenth in this week's poll. 

 

Class 2A is headlined by Wilmington, Decatur St. Teresa, and Tri-Valley remaining strong at one through three. Maroa-Forsyth jumped from no. 7 to no. 4 this week and Nashville jumped from no. 8 to no. 5. 

 

Bismarck-Henning went from no. 10 to no. 6 and 7-10 were all newcomers to this week's poll. Vandalia, Mercer County, Sterling Newman, and Knoxville round out the top 10 in 2A.

 

In Class 4A, with its big win over Rochester, Springfield Sacred Heart-Griffin ties with Joliet Catholic for no. 1.

 

Rochester dropped from no. 3 to no. 5. St. Francis and Richmond-Burton came in at no. 3 and no. 4, respectively. 

 

Genoa-Kingston, Stillman Valley, Wheaton Academy, Breese Central, and Carterville round out the top 10. 

 

In Class 5A, Mahomet-Seymour stayed at no. 3 as LaGrange Park Nazareth and Kankakee swapped spots for no. 1 and no. 2.

 

Morris and Sycamore round out the top 5 this week. 

 

Peoria, Rockford Boylan, Chicago St. Patrick, Sterling, and Chicago Morgan Park round out the top 10 in 5A.

 

Chatham-Glenwood enters this week's poll in 6A at no. 7. East St. Louis is no. 1 this week in 6A.

 

In Class 7A, Pekin enters this week's poll at tied for ninth with Moline. Normal Community continues to receive votes. 

 

Loyola Academy is no. 1 in this week's 8A poll.
