Clinton Cross Country Teams Get State Recognition

The latest high school cross country rankings have the Clinton Maroons boy's and girl's teams in this week's poll

 

A trio of polls recognizes the early success of this year's runners. The Milesplit poll has the Maroons at girl's runners at no. 20 and the boys at no. 21. 

 

Other teams receiving recognition in the Milesplit poll on the boy's side in 1A, Normal U-High is no. 4 this week, down from second last week. St. Joseph-Ogden is no. 10 this week. The Monticello boy's cross country team fell out of the top 10 dropping all the way to no. 17a nd Tuscola moves into the top 25 rankings at no. 25.

 

Tolono Unity is this week's top team on the girl's side. Springfield Sacred Heart-Griffin is up to no. 7 followed by Olympia and Monticello at no. 8 and 9, respectively.

 

Shelbyville enters this week's rankings with a jump to no. 11. 

 

In boy's Class 2A, the Lincoln boy's cross country team is no. 17 this week, down from no. 6 last week and Mahomet-Seymour enters the rankings at no. 20. 

 

Normal U-High is no. 9 in this week's Class 2A girl's poll followed by Washington at no. 10 and Rochester at no. 11. Normal West jumps to no. 17 this week and Mt. Zion is down to no. 19. Elsewhere, Mahomet-Seymour jumps into this week's rankings at no. 23.

 

Runnerspace has Clinton at no. 20 in the Class 1A boy's polls, entering the poll for the first time. Normal U-High is no. 2, Decatur St. Teresa no. 7, and St. Joseph-Ogden no. 10. Monticello is no. 13 this week, Tuscola falls to no. 25 and Tolono Unity enters the top-30 poll at no. 30.

 

Runnerspace has the Clinton Lady Maroons at no. 20 this week, down from no. 19 last week. Tolono Unity is the top girl's team in Class 1A. Springfield Sacred Heart-Griffin is no. 11 this week, Shelbyville enters the rankings at no. 19, and the Monticello girl's fell to no. 30 after being no. 9 in the preseason. 

 

Runnerspace has Mahomet-Seymour at no. 9 this week in Class 2A boy's polling followed by Lincoln, new to the poll at no. 10. Mt. Zion checks in at no. 21, followed by Taylorville at no. 22 and Chatham-Glenwood at No. 23. 

 

Speedratings has Clinton at no. 19 in this week's 1A poll for the boys. Normal U-High is no. 1 followed by Decatur St. Teresa. St. Joseph-Ogden is no. 9 and El Paso-Gridley rounds out the top 10. 

 

Other ranked teams included Williamsville at no. 12, Monticello at no. 16, Tuscola at no. 22, Shelbyville at no. 29 and Heyworth at no. 30. 

 

Saturday Clinton runners head to Peoria for a meet at Detweiller Park, where the state finals are held.
