After a much-needed 38-8 victory over IVC last Friday night, the Monticello Sages will host out-of-state opponent Milwaukee Academy of Science in non-conference high school football action tonight in Monticello.
The Sages fell behind 8-0 after a late first quarter safety and a turnover led to a touchdown for the Grey Ghosts but Coach Cully Welter liked the resilience his team showed in bouncing back to score 38 unanswered points, including 28 in the final minutes of the first half.
Milwaukee Academy of Science brings a 3-0 record into tonight's contest with convincing wins in all three victories. Coach Welter points out there are a lot of new players to the team from last year and given the decisive nature of their wins in the first three games, it is hard to scout and prepare.
The Sages are 1-1 overall and Coach Welter continues to emphasize the need to dial in each week with a very tough portion of the schedule still to come.
