Week 4 High School Football Top 10 Poll

Central Illinois football teams that took tough losses last Friday night expectedly took a tumble in the latest high school football rankings while there are some newcomers in central Illinois in a few polls.

 

Starting in Class 2A where Tri-Valley took a tough loss to Ridveview, ranked no. 3 in 1A this week, the Vikings fell all the way to no. 8 in the 2A poll. Wilmington remains atop the poll again this week followed by Decatur St. Teresa, Maroa-Forsyth, Bismarck-Henning, and North-Mac rounding out the top five. Knoxville and Rockridge preceed Tri-Valley at 6-7, respectively with Pana and Johnston City rounding out the top 10.

 

Ridgeviews win over Tri-Valley bumped them a spot to no. 3 this week in the Class 1A poll, replacing Central A&M who fell to Decatur St. Teresa last Friday. Lena-Winslow is no. 1 this week followed by Athens. Fulton and Camp Point Central Round out the 1A top five.

 

Hope Academy jumped Tuscola to no. 6 and the Warriors stayed at no. 7 this week. Forreston, Iriquois West and Central A&M reound out the top 10.

 

Shelbyville received a vote in the poll this week though they did not crack the top 10.

 

In Class 3A, the poll remains almost unchanged. IC Catholic, Williamsville, Reed-Custer, Princeton, and Byron remain one through five unchanged. Mt. Carmel, Prairie Central, Eureka, Peotone and Tolono Unity round out the top 10. The only change was Peotone at no. 9 and Unity at no. 10. They tied for tenth last week. 

 

Paxton-Buckley-Loda received votes in this week's poll though they did not crack the top 10.

 

Joliet Catholic and Springfield Sacred Heart-Griffin tied for no. 1 in the 4A poll this week with 114 points. St. Francis, Richmond-Burton, and Rochester rounds out the top 5. 

 

Six through tenth in the poll this week are unchanged with Stillman Valley, Genoa-Kingston, Wheaton Academy, Carterville and Freeburg rounding out the top 10.

 

Mahomet-Seymour is up a spot in this week's Class 5A poll after the Bulldogs big win in week three over Mt. Zion. Morris takes over no. 1 followed by Kankakee at no. 2. Sycamore and LaGrange Park Nazareth round out the top 5. 

 

Peoria remains no. 6 this week followed by Chicago Morgan Park, Glenbard South, Mascoutah, and Highland, who is new to the rankings this week.

 

Normal West enter enters the 6A poll this week after their big win over crosstown rival Normal Community last week. The Wildcats are no. 9. East St.Louis remains no. 1this week followed by Crystal Lake Prairie Ridge, Chicago Simeon, Lemont and Crete-Monee.

 

Chatham-Glenwood moves up a spot to no. 6 followed by Niles Notre Dame and Kenwood at no. 7-8, respectively and Cary-Grove rounds out the top 10 in 6A.

 

In Class 7A, Pekin moved up to no. 6 this week. Chicago Mt. Carmel remains the unanimous no. 1 team. 

 

And in Class 8A, Loyola Academy is the unanimous no. 1.
