Changing Landscape of Big Ten West Gives Hope to Illinois

The first month of the college football season has been wild and for teams in the Big Ten West, the division feels almost wide open.

Could the Illinois Fighting Illini win eight football games this year? It's not out of the question says Illini beat writing Bob Asmussen who wouldn't have guessed it just a few weeks ago.

For Asmussen, he believes the way byes are set up in this year's schedule is really going to favor second-year coach Bret Bielema.

This week's opponent, Chattanooga ranks tenth in the latest FCS top 25. This week's game is Thursday night at Memorial Stadium coming off a bye this last weekend.
