Clinton Football Coach Highlighting Positives in Close Loss to Central A&M

Despite falling 13-6 at home to Central A&M on Homecoming night at Clinton High School Friday, Maroons football Coach Ron Bass believes his team continues to take steps forward.

He says the tough loss is a good step forward in the process of his program becoming a winner. He was proud of the effort they gave Friday against a perennially strong football program.

Perhaps the next step forward for Clinton is to hone in on the little things. Coach Bass says when you watch a program like Central A&M, it's noticeable they are well coached and do the little things that lead to wins and that's what he sees as the next step for his group.

Coach Bass thought the option game was very strong for his team Friday and would like to see them turn to that more. He notes they are in the very infant stages of implementing that scheme.

Coach Bass indicates they continue to keep things simple defensively and was pleased with the execution of his team despite Central A&M getting open for some big plays.

The Maroons take on Decatur St. Teresa Friday night. Hear the action on The Big 1520 AM/92.3 FM/106.5 FM WHOW as well as on the many WHOW digital platforms.
