Minor Adjustments to Latest High School Football Rankings

The top teams in the state of Illinois high school football polls are playing well and not much-persuading

 

voters to adjust the rankings again this week. The Class 1A top five is unchanged with Lena-Winslow, Ridgeview, Camp Point Central, Hope Academy, and Shelbyville remaining strong at one through five. 

 

St. Bede dropped from no. 6 to no. 10 after a week 7 defeat, allowing everyone else to move up. Athens, Fulton, Greenfield-Northwestern and Ottawa Marquette are this week's 6-9.

 

In Class 1A, Only one change was made to the poll and that was Nashville entering at no. 10. 1-9 are the same as week 7. Decatur St. Teresa, Maroa-Forsyth, Bismarck-Henning, North Mac, and Wilmington are 1-5, respectively. Rockridge, Tri-Valley, Carmi White County, and Johnston City are 6-9, respectively.

 

The top 5 in Class 3A had a minor shakeup. IC Catholic and Reed-Custer are 1-2, respectively, unchanged from week7. Princeton, Byron, and Prairie Central jump a spot to round out the top. Mt. Carmel is up to no. 6 from seventh last week.

 

Williamsville moves from no. 3 to no. 7 after its week 7 loss to Maroa-Forsyth. Seneca and Tolono Unity move up a spot to 8-9, respectively, while Eureka dropped to no. 10 from no. 8 last week. 

 

In Class 4A, Springfield Sacred Heart-Griffin separated itself from Richmond Burton to take over the top spot from last week's tie for no. 1. St. Francis stays at no. 3 while Rochester and Joliet Catholic swap spots for no. 4-5, respectively. 6-8 remains the same this week with Stillman Valley, Carterville, and Macomb. Wheaton Academy moves up a spot to no. 9 and Breese Central enters this week's rankings at no. 10.

 

Class 5A, the top 5 remain unchanged with Kankakee in the top spot followed by Sycamore, Mahomet-Seymour, Peoria, and Chicago Morgan Park.

 

In class 6A, the top 5 remain unchanged. East St. Louis is this week's unanimous no. 1 followed by Chicago Simeon, Lemont, Crystal Lake Prairie Ridge, and Crete-Monee. Normal West moved up to no. 8 from no. 10 last week. Champaign Centennial enters this week's rankings at no. 10.

 

In Class 7A, Chicago Mt. Carmel is the unanimous no. 1. Pekin stayed put at no. 6.

And in Class 8A, Loyola Academy is no. 1.
