Despite Lopsided Loss, Monticello Football Coach Not Dwelling on Negatives

After Monticello forced fifth-ranked Prairie Central and its high powered, power run attack into a three-and-out to start Friday night's Illini Prairie Conference game, it was all Hawks after that in a 48-13 loss at Monticello.

Coach Cully Welter felt despite the lopsided score and a running clock for more of the final quarter, his team did some positive things, especially in the first half.

Despite trailing 32-6 at halftime, Coach Welter felt there were times he noticed the team feeling sorry for themselves but preached being resilient and continuing to fight despite the score.

The Sages wrap up with another tough game Friday night at Tolono Unity. At 5-3, the Sages will be looking to clinch their place in the postseason and at the same time improve their seeding.
