HS GBB: Monticello Gets By Charleston

Monticello made free throws late to hold off a late charge from Charleston to win 33-22 in non-conference high school girl's basketball action Monday from the Sievers Center at Monticello High School.

 

Megan Allen sank five of six free throws and the Lady Sages made 5-of-10 free throws as a team in the frame. 

 

The Monticello defense held the Lady Trojans to just three second half field goals, all in the third quarter. Charleston's Ally Logsdon led all scorers with 17 points.

 

Allen led the Lady Sages with 12 points and finished 7-for-8 at the free throw line. She was the Monticello ServPro of Piatt/DeWitt County Player of the Game.

 

Jobi Smith finished with six for Monticello while Isa Beery, Lydia Burger, and Maia High each scored five points.

 

The Lady Sages move to 3-2 overall. They travel to Urbana next Tuesday night. The next Monticello girl's basketball broadcast on WEZC will be Monday, Dec. 12 when they host Arthur-Lovington-Atwood-Hammond.
