HS BBALL: Monticello, Maroons, Lady Maroons Win Early Hoopla Games

In a game heard Monday on WEZC, the Monticello Sages topped the Oakwood Comets, 59-53, in pool play at the Monticello Holiday Hoopla.

Monticello managed to stay out in front of the Comets throughout most of the ball game, but Oakwood never fell behind by more than nine.

The Sages were led by the Serv-Pro of Piatt/ DeWitt County Player of the Game Trey Welter.  The Junior point guard had 15 points, including several late free throws to seal the win.  Tyler Blythe dropped in 15 as well for Monticello.  Tylor Bundy had 9, and Drew Sheppard added 8 for the Sages.

Oakwood was led by Dalton Hobick with 16.  Brody Talfinger added 12 for the Comets.

Monticello improves to 6-4 on the season, and 1-0 in Hoopla pool play.  They next play Ridgeview at 7:30 Monday night.  Oakwood falls to 9-4 on the season, and 0-1 in Hoopla pool play.  

The next Monticello Sages broadcast on 95.9 WEZC comes your way Tuesday afternoon with a special double header from the Hoopla.  The Lady Sages take on Clinton at 2pm, and then the Sages take on the Maroons at 3:30p.  Hear both games on WEZC.

The Clinton Maroons won their first game of the day downing Ridgeview, 68-36.  Clinton's Dawson Graves set a new Sievers Center record with 29 points in the game.  Clinton takes on Oakwood at 6p Monday night at Monticello.  

The Clinton Lady Maroons are also 1-0 in Hoopla pool play.  Clinton downed Ridgeview 67-37 Monday morning in Monticello.  They'll face Stark County Monday night at 7:30p.
