HS BBall: Lady Maroons Fall To Tri-Valley

In a game heard Thursday night on WHOW, the Clinton Lady Maroons fell to Tri-Valley, 58-53, in non-conference girls basketball action.

It was the first game for the Lady Maroons since their second place finish December 28th at the Monticello Holiday Hoopla.  Clinton came out of the gate a little slow, trailing the Vikings 13-10 after one.  The Lady Maroons then outscored Tri-Valley, 16-9, in the second quarter to take a 26-22 lead into the half.  That lead was short lived though, as the Vikings rallied to 41-36 lead after three.  From there they survived a late Lady Maroons rally to hold on for the five point win.

Tri-Valley was led by Junior Cadence Geiser with 17. Junior Kelsey Bartels (Bar-tells) added 16 for the now 8-6 Vikings.

Clinton was led by Freshman Clara Dempsey with 15. Sophomore Regan Filkin added 14 points.  Avery Smith was named the WHOW / Serv-Pro of Piatt/DeWitt County Player of the Game. The freshman center contributed 13 points, which included 9 in the 4th quarter while playing with four fouls.

Clinton falls to 10-9 with the loss.  They next travel to Leroy Tuesday night.  Our next Lady Maroons Game of the Week broadcast on WHOW is next Thursday when Clinton travels to Tuscola in CIC conference play.

A reminder - Join us Friday night for our next WHOW Maroons Game of the Week broadcast as the 13-3 Maroons open CIC play against the 3-10 Sullivan Redskins.  Varsity action is slated to tip around 7:30 Friday night on all WHOW platforms.
