HS BBALL: Clinton Downs Warrensburg-Latham

In a game heard Tuesday night on WHOW, the Clinton Maroons dominated Warrensburg-Latham, 59-29, in CIC conference basketball action at Clinton High School.

The Maroons jumped ahead early, and never trailed in what was the first conference matchup between Clinton coach Vic Binkley and his former team.  The two teams met earlier this season in a non-conference game that saw Clinton edge the Cards by two.  The rematch would not be nearly as competitive.

Clinton led 15-6 after one quarter, and built the lead to 16 by half.  The Maroons blew the game open for good in the third, outscoring Warrensburg 24 to 8 in that quarter alone.

The Maroons put four players in double figures in the win.   Dawson Graves and Brooks Cluver led the way with 14 apiece, while Mason and Colton Walker each added 11 points.  Colton was named the WHOW / Serv Pro of Piatt/DeWitt County Player Of The Game.

Sophomore Brayden Hickey led Warrensburg-Latham with 12 points.  The Cardinals fall to 13-15 overall, and 1-4 in the CIC.  They'll next host Shelbyville Friday night.

Clinton improves to 22-6 overall, and 4-1 in conference.  The Maroons travel to Central A&M Friday night.

Our next Clinton High School sports broadcast comes your way Thursday night when the Lady Maroons host St. Teresa for Senior Night.  Varsity action tips around 7:30pm Thursday on all WHOW platforms.
