HS BBALL: Lady Maroons Fall To Trojans In 2A Regionals

In a game heard Saturday afternoon on WHOW, the Clinton Lady Maroons fell to the Maroa-Forsyth Trojans, 53-46, in the Class 2A Girls Regionals at Maroa-Forsyth High School.

The Trojans jumped out to a lead early, and steadily built upon it throughout the game.  Clinton trailed 8-6 after the first quarter, but the Trojans extended the lead to five by halftime.  Maroa would build the lead to as many as 10 in the third, but Clinton would cut it to five before another Trojans run.  The back and forth continued into the fourth, but the more experienced Trojans held on for the win.

Maroa-Forsyth was led by Leah Adlaf with 30 points.  Maggie Ravenscraft added 7 for the 18-14 overall Trojans, who advance to face Pana Tuesday night at Warrensburg-Latham.

The Lady Maroons end their season at 15-17 overall.  Clinton was led by Reagan Filkin with 16 points.  She was named the Serv Pro of Piatt/DeWitt County Player of the Game.  Avery Smith added 12, while Heidi Humble contributed 10 points.  The young Lady Maroons squad should return all five of their regular starters next season.

Our next Clinton sports broadcast on WHOW comes your way Thursday night when the Maroons host Decatur St. Teresa for Senior Night.  Varsity action comes your way around 7:30pm Thursday night on all WHOW platforms!
