HS BBBall: Monticello Rolls PBL

In a game heard on WEZC and at dewittdailynews.com, four players scored in double-figures leading Monticello over Paxton-Buckley-Loda 65-33 in Class 2A Regional quarterfinal high school boy's basketball action from the Sievers Center at Monticello High School Saturday afternoon.

 

Tylor Bundy had a career-high 13 points and six rebounds for the Sages. Trey Welter scored 11 of his 13 points in the first half for Monticello.

 

Drew Sheppard recorded his third double-double this season with 11 points and 11 rebounds. Tyler Blythe came off the bench again Saturday and finished in double figures again with 10 points. 

 

Bundy's performance earned him his first ServPro of Piatt/DeWitt County player of the game. 

 

Monticello dominated in nearly facet of this contest, controlling the boards 36-19, scoring 26 points in the paint, and turned 18 PBL turnovers into 13 points.

Perhaps the most impressive stat of the day was the Sages had 22 assists on its 23 field goals.
 

Monticello shot an even 50-percent from the floor for the game and finished 11-for-13 from the foul line and went 8-for-14 from distance. 

 

Kayden Snelling scored 13 points to lead the Panthers.

 

PBL finishes the season 4-25 overall.

 

Monticello moves to 16-13 overall and will move on to take on Iroquois West Wednesday night at 7:30 pm at the Prairie Central Regional. Hear the action on 95.9 FM WEZC and online at dewittdailynews.com.
