Clinton Baseball Set to Open Season at Heyworth

The Clinton Maroons will open the 2023 spring baseball season this afternoon at Heyworth High School and in his final season, Coach John Hickman really likes the group of young men he will lead this year.

The veteran coach indicates this is one of the deepest rosters he's had in some time. He points out though, it's a young group of players that don't know his system.

Coach Hickman believes this edition of the Clinton Maroons is really going to surprise some teams. He really likes his pitching this year with four solid arms he feels he can turn to.

Coach Hickman is excited about what he's seeing from his players when they are taking batting practice, noting an increase in pop this year.

In his last year at the reigns of the Clinton baseball program, Coach Hickman is trying to focus too much on that. He really likes this group of young men and looks forward to coaching them this year.

Last year, defense was a big problem for Clinton. Coach Hickman says one thing about this team is they are able to move players around with kids that offer a great deal of versatility.
