Minnesota Topples Illinois State

The Illinois State baseball team never recovered from allowing four first inning runs in Tuesday's 10-3 loss to Minnesota at Duffy Bass Field as Redbird pitchers conceded 12 hits and 11 free passes.

Illinois State (6-9) also hit into two double plays in the first three innings while leaving the bases loaded in the 5th inning and stranding two baserunners in both the 7th and 8th innings.

Senior Dylan Swarmer had a home run reduced to a triple after the umpire deemed he had missed home plate to go with a pair of singles to lead the Redbirds. Sophomore Noah Rabin also had a trio of hits.

The Golden Gophers improved to 4-18 overall.

Illinois State is scheduled to play Minnesota at 1:00 p.m. CT today at Duffy Bass Field.
