Ike Young threw five innings of shutout ball in his first varsity start and Kyle Peake led a late breakout of Monticello bats to help the Sages roll Prairie Central 13-0 in Illini Prairie Conference boy's baseball action Thursday afternoon in Fairbury.
The sophomore pounded the strike zone and struck out five while permitting just one hit.
Monticello led 2-0 after four innings but the bats came alive and Peake capped the big rally a bases-clearing double off the left field fence.
Colten Vance continued his hot hitting for the Sages with an RBI and three hits. Matt Swartz doubled for Monticello.
The Sages go to 5-1 overall and 2-1 in the Illini Prairie. They take on GCMS this afternoon in non-conference action.
