HS Baseball: Shelbyville Topples Clinton

A three-run third inning and four Clinton errors helped Shelbyville top Clinton 5-2 in Central Illinois Conference high school boy's baseball action from Shelbyville Thursday afternoon.

 

Drew Nohren highlighted the three-run frame with a two-run double. Ty Brachbill brought in a run for the Rams and Kaz Fox finished 2-for-3.

 

Jack Manning went five innings for Clinton permitting five runs but just one was earned. He struck out three and walked one. 

 

Despite issuing seven walks, three Shelbyville pitchers limited the Maroons offensively thanks to a combined 13 strikeouts. Drake McDonald struck out 11 in 4 1/3 innings. 

 

Clinton mustered just two hits for the game. Josh Bass went 1-for-3. 

 

The Maroons drop to 1-2 overall and fall to 0-2 in the CIC. 

 

Shelbyville is 4-0 and 2-0 in league play.

 

Clinton hosts Mt. Pulaski this afternoon.
