HS Baseball: Teschke, Trusner Lead Monticello Past IVC

In a game heard on WEZC and at dewittdailynews.com, Luke Teschke was sharp again over five shutout innings and Jacob Trusner muscled a two-run home run to spark a four-run third inning leading Monticello over IVC 10-1 in Illini Prairie Conference boy's baseball Saturday morning at Monticello High School.

Teschke struck out 11 and faced one over the minimum in another sharp outing for the Illinois State-commit.

With the Sages up 1-0, the junior started the four-run third inning with a base hit. Trusner followed with a mammoth home run to left field.

Sophomore Colton Vance continued his hot hitting with a base hit after the Trusner blast. Logan Chupp doubled Vance in and senior Spencer Mitze capped the rally with a base hit up the middle that scored Chupp.

Teschke finished 2-for-4 with a walk. Trusner was 2-for-3 with three RBIs and a walk. Mitze finished 2-for-4 with two RBIs.

Trusner's blast earned him the ServPro of Piatt/DeWitt County Player of the Game for the Sages.

IVC falls to 3-7 overall and 0-4 in the Illini Prairie.
