HS Baseball: Maroa-Forsyth Edges Monticello

Maroa-Forsyth held serve in a rematch of a classic Supersectional matchup last year with Monticello, downing the Sages by the same score from last May, 4-3 in non-conference high school boy's baseball action from Forsyth Monday afternoon.

Jacob Blunck pitched into the sixth inning for the Trojans, allowing two runs and five hits. Kaiden Maurer closed out the win with an 1 2/3 scoreless relief.

Maurer, who had the walk-off hit that sent the Trojans to the state finals last Memorial Day, finished 2-for-3 with a pair of RBIs. Andy Munjoy was 2-for-3 with a double, triple, and run batted in.

Jacob Trusner continued his hot hitting for the Sages, finishing 1-for-3 with a double and RBI. Luke Teschke slammed a triple for the second straight game for the Sages and Kyle Peake had an RBI double

The Trojans are 13-2 overall. Monticello moves to 10-3.

Maroa-Forsyth hosts Williamsville in a Sangamo Conference showdown this afternoon. Monticello travels to Salt Fork on Wednesday.
