Wisconsin-Milwaukee Doubles Up Illinois State

Auggie Rasmussen reached base safely five times in Illinois State's 4-2 loss to Milwaukee on Tuesday at Duffy Bass Field.

Rasmussen doubled twice, singled, and was hit by two pitches for Illinois State (10-21 overall), which stranded 12 runners and had the tying run at the plate in the 9th inning with no outs.

Illinois State struck first as freshman Daniel Pacella grounded home junior Shaydon Kubo. The Redbirds nearly plated another run but had the call that Rasmussen had crossed the plate before the runner was tagged out overturned upon review.

Trailing 3-1, ISU pulled within a run on a 6th-inning double by second-year sophomore Nick Strong.

Freshman Shai Robinson reached three times via two singles and a walk. Freshman Thomas Harper tallied a career-high six innings pitched in the start against his hometown team. Harper, a Wauwatosa, Wis. Native, struck out four while allowing three runs.

Rasmussen's on-base streak moved to 11 games.

Milwaukee moves to 17-16 overall.

Illinois State is scheduled to play at Northern Illinois on Wednesday at 3:00 p.m. before a weekend series at Bradley.
