Phillies Down White Sox

Tre Turner homered and had three hits, Brandon Marsh also went deep and Philadelphia beat the Chicago White Sox 5-2 on Wednesday.

Taijuan Walker pitched into the seventh inning, and the Phillies had better luck against Mike Clevinger after being held to one hit by Lucas Giolito and three relievers in the second game of Tuesday’s doubleheader.

Marsh led off the second with his third home run; he had Philadelphia’s lone hit in Tuesday’s nightcap.

Andrew Vaughn hit a two-run homer in the first. But the White Sox lost for the sixth time in eight games.

White Sox 3B Yoán Moncada (lower back soreness) will probably need to go on a rehab assignment before he returns from the 10-day injured list, manager Pedro Grifol said.

Michael Kopech (0-2, 6.32) seeks his first win when the White Sox open a three-game series at Tampa Bay on Friday. LHP Josh Fleming (0-0, 6.10) starts for the Rays.
