HS Softball: Maroa-Forsyth Tops Clinton

The Maroa-Forsyth Lady Trojans answered a big inning by Clinton with a big inning of their own and held off the Lady Maroons 9-5 in non-conference girl's softball action from Forsyth Thursday afternoon.

 

The Lady Maroons trailed 4-1 going into the top of the fifth inning and put four runs on the board to go up 5-4 but the Lady Trojans dropped a five-spot in th bottom of the fifth to go up 9-5 and held on from there.

 

Balance was the name of the game for the Lady Trojans offensively Thursday. 

 

Lainey Larner, Kelci Kahler, and Tori Thomas went yard on a breezy afternoon. Megan Holub and Thomas recorded two hits at the top of the lineup. Lauryn Wright, Danni Hovey, Maggie Ravenscraft, and Reya Corley all recorded hits for Maroa-Forsyth.

 

Heidi Humble went 1-for-2 with a double, an RBI and a run scored for the Lady Maroon.s Brooke Reeves and Sarah Mills finished 2-for-4. Mills drove in a run while Reeves had a stolen base. Alaina Soberalski finished 1-for-4 with a double and run scored. 

 

Reice McCormick, Aliviyah Haynes, and Mia Kivlehan each had RBIs for Clinton.

 

Maro-Forsyth improves to 14-4 overall. They Lisle-Benet Academy and Effingham St. Anthony in a Saturday morning twin bill.

 

Clinton drops to 6-12 overall and will host Shelbyville this afternoon.
