HS Baseball: Shelbyville Doubles Up Clinton in Extra Innings

Despite a quick start for the Clinton Maroons, Shelbyville bounced back for a 4-2 extra innings victory over Clinton Friday afternoon from Clinton High School in Central Illinois Conference high school baseball action.

The Maroons jumped in front 2-0 in the first inning behind an RBI base hit by Colten Walker but the Rams got those two runs back in the top of the second inning and it was all goose eggs until the top of the eighth when Shelbyville went up 4-2 and held on from there.

Nate Trimble settled down after the first inning to finish with seven innings of two-run ball. The senior struck out eight and permitted five hits and a walk.

Brock Wilson pitched into the eighth for Clinton. He struck out four, walked one, five hits, and was charged with four unearned runs.

Shelbyville's Drew Noren permitted a hit but struck out two to close out the win for Shelbyville.

Jack Manning and Brooks Cluver finished 2-for-4 at the plate for the Maroons.

Clinton falls to 5-7 overall and drops to 4-5 in the CIC. Shelbyville is 14-4 overall and improves to 7-2 in the CIC.

Clinton travels to Meridian for another Central Illinois Conference tilt on Monday.
