HS Softball: Monticello Rolls Past Urbana

Monticello got contributions from the entire lineup and beat Urbana 11-1 in five innings in non-conference high school girl's softball action from Monticello Tuesday.

Marrissa Miller paced the Monticello offense going 4-for-4 with two triples, an RBI, a stolen base and three runs scored.

Sadie Walsh reached base four times with two hits, two walks, drove in two, and scored three runs. Cassidee Stoffel walked in a run, Isabella Beery doubled in a run and Reese Patton had an RBI base hit.

Catie Swartz started the scoring for Monticello with a double to left field to start the second inning. She stole third base and the throw went into left field, allowing the sophomore to score the game's first run standing up.

Avery Schweitzer walked twice and singled home a run for the Lady Sages. Emma Stoerger and Lynnsy Trybom finished 1-for-3 as well.

Patton went five one-run innings in circle for Monticello. The junior struck out six, walked one and permitted two hits.

Miller's stellar day at the plate earned her the ServPro of Piatt/DeWitt County Player of the Game.

The Lady Sages go to 8-9 overall. They host Bloomington Central Catholic on Thursday.
