In a game heard on WEZC and online at dewittdailynews.com, Luke Teschke hit a game-ending two-run home run and pitched five innings of one-run ball as Monticello ten runed Bloomington Central Catholic 11-1 in five innings Thursday from Monticello High School in Illini Prairie Conference baseball action.
Teschke settled down after he gave up a run in the first inning and the Sages sent 11 batters to the plate in the second inning to take control with a six-run frame.
Jacob Trusner finished 2-for-2 with a pair of doubles, a walk and three RBIs.
Leading 9-1 with one out in the bottom of the fifth, Teschke sent a high drive over the left field fence ending the game as the Sages went up ten.
He finished 2-for-3 at the plate with a walk. The Illinois State commit struck out eight and retired 12 of the final 15 he faced.
Teschke was the ServPro of Piatt/DeWitt County Player of the Game.
Jarrett Wiedewilt was 2-for-3 with a stolen base and run scored for BCC. Nick Mardis singled in the only run for the Saints and finished 1-for-2 with a stolen base.
The Saints fall to 8-8 overall and 3-4 in the Illini Prairie Conference.
