HS Baseball: Warrensburg-Latham Walks Off Clinton

The Warrensburg-Latham Cardinals scored the winning run in the bottom of the eighth inning and beat Clinton 8-7 in a Central Illinois Conference boy's baseball thriller Friday in Warrensburg.

With game tied at one, the Maroons went ahead 5-1 in the top of the fourth inning and tacked on two more in the sixth to go up 7-2. The Cardinals rallied in the bottom half, tying the game at seven, forcing extra innings after neither team scored in the seventh.

 

Brock Wilson threw five innings of two-run ball for the Maroons. Brooks Cluver took the loss, permitting six runs but just one was earned.

 

Wilson struck out ten to two walks and allowed eight hits. Cluver walked five and struck out three.

 

Cluver finished 2-for-5 at the plate with three runs scored. Colton Walker was 3-for-5 with a triple while Jack Manning finished 2-for-5.

 

Jakob Helm finished 3-for-4 for the Cardinals.

 

Warrensburg-Latham moves to 17-4 overall and 8-3 in the CIC.

 

Clinton falls to 7-8 overall and 6-6 in the Central Illinois Conference. The Maroons host Central A&M on Tuesday.
