Chance Payne hit a solo home run and Evan Cooper pitched a complete game as the Mt. Pulaski Hilltoppers picked up a big 6-1 win over Illini Bluffs in Tomahawk Conference boy's baseball action Saturday in Mt. Pulaski.

Payne allowed an unearned run and struck out five in facing just four over the minimum.

Jackson Fricke doubled twice and drove in two while AJ Bailey was 2-for-4 with a double, an RBI and a run scored.

The first five in the Hilltoppers order scored a run. Evan Cooper and Luke Martin had RBIs for Mt. Pulaski who goes to 20-2 overall and 5-0 in the Tomahawk Conference.

With Illini Bluffs going to 5-2 in conference play, the Hilltoppers control their own destiny in the Tomahawk the rest of the way. They begin another busy week with a non-conference game today hosting New Berlin.
