Baseball, Softball Seeds Announced Tuesday

Sectional seedings were announced Tuesday for high school boys' baseball and high school girls' softball in Class 1A and 2A.

 

In Class 1A boy's baseball, Mt. Pulaski received the top seed in the Champaign St. Thomas More sub-sectional A. Decatur St. Teresa is the second seed, Champaign St. Thomas More received the fourth seed. 

 

Other seeds in the sub-sectional include Cerro Gordo-Bement receiving the seventh seed, Argenta-Oreana the eighth seed, and Decatur LSA the tenth seed. 

 

Salt Fork and Argenta-Oreana are Regional hosts in the sub-sectional. 

 

Blue Ridge received the ninth seed in Sub-Sectional B of the Champaign St. Thomas More Sectional. 

 

Delavan is the top seed in sub-sectional A of the Illinois Wesleyan Sectional. Heyworth is the second seed while LeRoy received the fourth seed. LeRoy will host a Regional. Lexington is the eighth seed and will host a Regional while Ridgeview is seeded ninth and Hartsburg-Emded is seeded 11th.

 

Other Class 1A seedings, Meridian is the sixth seed in sub-sectional B of the Altamont Sectional. Central A&M is the eighth seed of the same sectional and Tuscola is seeded tenth. Neoga and Tuscola will host the Regionals. 

 

In Class 2A, Monticello is seeded second in sub-sectional A of the Millikin Sectional. St. Joseph-Ogden is the top seed followed by Tolono Unity. 

 

GCMS is the eighth seed and will host a Regional. St. Joseph-Ogden is the other Regional host. 

 

Clinton received the seventh seed in sub-sectional B of the Millikin Sectional. Tri-Valley will host a Regional and is the fourth seed. Bloomington Central Catholic is the fifth seed.

 

Maroa-Forsyth is the third seed of sub-sectional B of the Pleasant Plains Sectional. Warrensburg-Latham is the fourth seed. Quincy Notre Dame and Athens are Regional hosts. 

 

Shelbyville is the third seed of sub-sectional A of the Pleasant Plains Sectional. Sullivan will host a Regional and is the seventh seed. 

 

Checking in on girl's softball - Clinton is the ninth seed of sub-sectional A in the Tolono Unity sectional. Monticello is seeded eighth in the same sub-sectional. The top seed is Tolono Unity followed by Normal U-High, Bloomington Central Catholic and Warrensburg-Latham rounding out the top four. Maroa-Forsyth is seeded fifth, then Tri-Valley and Arthur-Lovington-Atwood-Hammond. 

 

The Regional hosts are Bloomington Central Catholic and Maroa-Forsyth.

 

In sub-sectional B, Sullivan received the fifth seed while Shelbyville is the sixth seed. The Regional sites in the sub-sectional are Sullivan and Teutopolis.

 

Other area softball teams seeding includes Lexington seeded fifth in sub-sectional A of the Pontiac Sectional. GCMS is seeded sixth. 

 

Class 1A girl's softball seedings, Heyworth will host a Regional and is the top seed in sub-sectional A of the Tuscola Sectional. LeRoy, Fisher, and Meridian are the top four seeds. Tuscola, Argenta-Oreana, Arcola, Blue Ridge, Decatur St. Teresa and Champaign St. Thomas More round out seeds five through ten.

 

Meridian is the other Regional host.

 

The brackets are expected to be released Friday afternoon.
