A three-run seventh sent Monticello past Rantoul 4-1 in Illini Prairie Conference high school girl's softball action from Rantoul Thursday.

Sadie Walsh had a two-run single that broke a 1-1 tie in the top of the seventh inning.

An inning earlier, Avery Schweitzer singled home the tying run. 

Lynssey Trybom and Catie Swartz added base hits for Monticello, who did not have an extra-base hit among its four.

Reese Patton was excellent in circle for Monticello. The junior went the distance allowing a run on three hits with no walks and seven strikeouts.

Monticello is 10-11 overall and 5-4 in the Illini Prairie Conference.

They host Fisher this afternoon.
