On senior day at Monticello High School, the veteran right-hander struck out eight, permitted three hits and did not walk a batter in 4 2/3 innings of one-run ball.
Jacob Trusner was 2-for-4 with a double and two RBIs. Biniam Lienhart was 2-for-4 with a double. Ike Young drove in two with a triple and Spence Mitze was 2-for-3 with an RBI for the Sages.
Brendan Doyle's solo home run in the fifth inning was the only offense the Braves could muster Friday.
Mt. Zion is 15-11.
Monticello is 20-4 overall. They'll play a final tune up game at Mt. Pulaski Monday before action in the GMCS Regional starting next Wednesday.
