HS Baseball: Mt. Pulaski Rolls Argenta-Oreana

AJ Bailey and the Mt. Pulaski Hilltoppers made quick work of Argenta-Oreana in a 12-1 five-inning, run-rule win Wednesday in Class 1A Regional semifinal boy's baseball action from Argenta.

 

Bailey allowed an unearned run across five innings. He struck out seven and permitted two hits. 

 

The Hilltoppers used a seven-run third inning to get up big.

 

Jackson Fricke hit a bases-clearing three-run double finishing 1-for-3. Chance Payne and Liam Smith were 2-for-3. Payne drove in a run. 

 

The Hilltoppers were very active on the bases. Landon Smith, Liam Smith, Payne, Bailey, Franklin Wade, Clay Aylesworth, and Luke Martin all stole bases. Evan Cooper had two steals. 

 

The Bombers finish the season at 5-17. 

 

Mt. Pulaski is 27-4 overall. They meet the winner of this afternoon's game between Champaign St. Thomas More and Cerro Gordo-Bement on Saturday morning for the Regional championship.
