Clinton Schools AD Confident in Current Athletic Facilities, Ready for More

Schools across the area are upgrading its sports facilities.

Many are thanks to revenue streams like the one-cent sales tax, others have development pieces like wind and solar to tap into. Despite none of those in DeWitt County - yet - Clinton Schools Athletic Director Matt Koeppel says he'd put Clinton's up against anyone's.

This summer, Clinton is tackling a major renovation of its commons area and gymnasium. But going forward, the focus will shift to the outdoor facilities and Koeppel says there are a lot of ideas for those areas.

For baseball and softball, like many places, Koeppel hopes to see those fields receive turf as well. He indicates baseball will see its home plate area with turf. He hopes that keeps games from being postponed and they can get more spring games in.

While many districts can tap into revenue streams like the one-cent sales tax or the revenues from renewable energy developments, Koeppel doesn't necessarily believe that is holding Clinton back.
