HS BBALL: Lady Maroons Bounce Bombers Thursday; Unbeaten Maroons Set To Host Maroa-Forsyth Friday

>> Lady Maroons Bounce Bombers

In a game heard Thursday night on WHOW, the Clinton Lady Maroons downed the Argenta-Oreana Bombers, 50 to 9, in a non-conference girls basketball game at Clinton High School.

The Lady Maroons never trailed, and jumped out to a 17-4 first quarter lead. Clinton, who went deep into their bench throughout the game, built a 20-point halftime lead. They would go on to runaway from the Bombers, and even held Argenta scoreless in the fourth quarter, to put up the 50 to 9 win.

The loss drops Argenta-Oreana to 0-5 on the season.  They were led by Kharma Giles with four points. The Bombers next travel to Staunton on Saturday.

Clinton's balanced attack was led by Avery Smith's 10-points. Clara Dempsey and MaKayla Koeppel each added 8-points. Heidi Humble had 7-points, and was named the WHOW / ServPro of Piatt/DeWitt County Player of the Game in recognition of her numerous hustle plays as well.

The Lady Maroons improve to 3-4 with the win, and next travel to Peoria Heights Monday night.  Our next Clinton girls basketball broadcast on WHOW is next Thursday when the Lady Maroons host Shelbyville in a CIC conference matchup.
