HS BBBall: Monticello Tranquilizes Ridgeview

In a game heard on WEZC and online at dewittdailynews.com, Monticello started just as fast as its first game Tuesday and tranquilized the Ridgeview Mustangs 64-24 in the second game from the first day of the Monticello Holiday Hoopla at the Sievers Center at Monticello High School.

 

Trey Welter did it all for the Sages with 13 points, eight assists, and four rebounds. The senior did it all on his way to the Serv Pro of Piatt/DeWitt Counties Player of the Game.

 

Jack Weidner scored nine points and grabbed eight rebounds for Monticello. Rai Colbert scored nine points while Tyler Blythe came off the bench and added ten points.

 

The Sages held the Mustangs to 17 percent shooting for the game. They scored 28 points in the paint and had 16 assists on its 25 field goals.

Monticello turned 17 Ridgeview turnovers into 18 points.

 

The Sages go to 5-6 and head to another Tuesday showdown at the Hoopla with the Clinton Maroons at 3:30 pm.
