HS BBBall: Monticello Throttles New Berlin

In a game heard on WEZC and online at dewittdailynews.com, New Berlin scored the first four points of the game but Monticello scored the final 13 points of the first quarter and blew away New Berlin 57-26 from the St. Joseph-Ogden Christie Clinic Shootout Saturday afternoon.

 

Trey Welter scored 12 of his game-high 19 points in the first half and was the ServPro of Piatt/DeWitt County Player of the Game for the Sages.

 

Raiden Colbert added ten points. 

 

The Sages went up 33-14 at the half and pushed the lead to 31 points to engage the running clock for the fourth quarter.

 

It was another solid offensive performance for Monticello. The Sages shot 49 percent from the floor for the game while sinking just 9-of-25 three-pointers. The Sages dished out 11 assists on its 21 field goals and committed just three turnovers. 

 

Monticello controlled the glass, outrebounding the Pretzels 25-16. 

 

Since its loss to Warrensburg-Latham before the Christmas holiday, the Sages have won five of its last seven to go to 8-8 on the year.
