Monticello started fast and did not look back in getting by Danville 50-40 in non-conference high school girls basketball Monday night in Danville.

Megan Allen paced the Lady Sages with 20 points and four rebounds. Maia High posted a double-double with 13 points and 13 rebounds. 

Ali Weidner contributed six assists and four steals for Monticello.

The Lady Sages jumped out to an early 12-4 but that advantage was trimmed to 18-15 at the intermission. Each team caught fire in the third quarter with the Sages holding a 29-21 advantage to go up 47-36 after three quarters.

Monticello outrebounded Danville 31-12.

The Lady Sages improve to 7-12 overall. They will travel to Paxton-Buckley-Loda for a Thursday night Illini Prairie Conference tilt.
