In a game heard on WHOW, WEZC, and at dewittdailynews.com, Clinton throttled Monticello 63-50 in non-conference high school boys basketball action from the Sievers Center in Monticello Tuesday night.

The game started looking like a back-and-forth contest between two teams that played to a three-point game right after Christmas at the Holiday Hoopla. After the game was tied at 5-5 with 5:04 to play in the first quarter, the Maroons finished the quarter on a 14-7 run led by Dawson Graves and Mason Walker.

The duo would lead Clinton the rest of the way as they pulled away and led by as many as 21 points in the second quarter.

Walker finished with a game-high 19 points. Graves added 16 points and Brooks Cluver scored 12 points for the Maroons. Walker was named the Maroons ServPro of Piatt/DeWitt Counties Player of the Game.

The Maroons were impressive all night on offense, finishing with a 50-percent shooting percentage and shooting 9-for-19 from beyond the arc. Walker was 5-for-11 from distance.

Clinton controlled the glass 32-25 and held Monticello to 37.5 percent shooting.

Tyler Blythe led the Sagse with 13 points. Trey Welter added ten points. Blythe was the Sages ServPro of Piatt/DeWitt County Player of the Game.

The Maroons go to 17-1 overall. They will host Shelbyville on Friday night. Hear the action starting around 7:30 pm on 92.3 FM/106.5 FM OKWHOW and all the WHOW digital platforms.
