Monticello was able to hold off Rantoul despite a slow fourth quarter came took home an Illini Prairie Conference win 48-39 in high school girls basketball action from Rantoul Wednesday night.

Maia High had 14 points and eight rebounds to lead Monticello. Ali Weidner added ten points for the Lady Sages. 

Leading 22-15 at the break, Monticello used a 20-11 third quarter to go up 42-26 after three. The Lady Sages were outscored 13-6 in the final frame but were able to hold off the Lady Eagles.

The Lady Sages improved to 8-14 overall and picked up its first Illini Prairie Conference win to go to 1-3 in league play.
