HS BBBall: Maroa-Forsyth Falls Short to Petersburg-PORTA

Coby Lane scored 20 points but it wasn't enough as Maroa-Forsyth fell to PORTA-AC Central 59-56 in Sangamo Conference high school boy's basketball action Friday night at Maroa-Forsyth High School.

 

The first half was close, as the Trojans led 32-29 at the break, but PORTA pulled to a 49-42 lead after three quarters and a late comeback by Maroa-Forsyth fell short. 

 

Lane was the only player to score in double figures. Mitch Williams and Zayne Giles each added nine points while Kaiden Maurer scored eight.

 

Sophomore Jett Karrick scored a team-high 19 points for the Blue Jays. Drew Marr scored 18 points and Ethan Mahoney added 11.

 

PORTA goes to 12-11 overall and 1-2 in the Sangamo Conference.

 

Maroa-Forsyth drops to 14-7 overall and 2-1 in league play. The Trojans take on Illini Central on Tuesday night in Maroa in more Sangamo play.
