The buzz is palpable as the Monticello Sages open the 2024 spring baseball season today.

The Sages have had a lot of success in recent years and as the new season arrives this afternoon, Monticello has its sites set on big things this year. Veteran Coach Chris Jones says things start on the mound this year with ISU baseball-commit Luke Teschke anchoring a strong pitching rotation.

The Sages will be playing on an all-new turf baseball field this spring and Coach Jones believes that has put his program a little ahead of schedule - especially considering the weather has been ideal to start the spring sports season.

Monticello also has a very strong junior class and there will be several players that will have more asked of them this year.
