HS Baseball: Lincoln Looking to Take Step Forward This Spring

The Lincoln Railsplitters baseball team reached a Regional championship in 2023, falling short to a Mahomet-Seymour baseball squad that featured a top draft pick in last year's baseball draft.

It was a tough draw and now Coach Auggie Casson says his is hungry to get back to that Regional championship game and go even further this year.

Six players will be playing at the next level on this year's Railsplitters squad and Coach Casson says each one will be a key contributor to this year's team. He also notes they have some pretty exciting young players coming through the program.

Coach Casson is a defense and pitching-first coach and really likes the pitching staff he has this year. He calls this the deepest team he's had in his time at Lincoln High School.

Lincoln opens its season today hosting Bloomington. The Railers start the season with a busy week but beautiful weather should allow them to get all their games in. They host Tri-Valley on Wednesday and travel to Olympia on Saturday.
