Cassie Zimmerman had the game-ending single and Blue Ridge walked off Donovan 4-3 in thrilling season-opening, non-conference softball action from Farmer City Monday.

Zimmerman paced the Lady Knights offense going 2-for-3 with a pair of RBI hits and stole a base.

Addison Roose finished 2-for-4 with a run scored while Carsyn Stiger, Karlee Fenton, and Ellie Hayward each recorded hits for the Blue Ridge. 

Ellie Schlieper was sharp in circle for the Lady Knights. The junior struck out ten in seven innings allowing seven hits and three runs, two were earned.

The Lady Knights go to 1-0 on the season. They travel to Normal Calvary Christian Academy on Thursday.
