Maroa-Forsyth run rules Taylorville

Tate Brandenburg drove in four runs on one hit to lead Maroa-Forsyth past the Taylorville Tornadoes 18-5 on Friday. In the second inning, Brandenburg hit a grand slam to left field.

 

Maroa-Forsyth jumped out to the lead in the top of the first inning after Mitch WIlliams doubled, scoring one run, an error scored one run, and another error scored two.

 

The Trojans scored eight runs on seven hits in the top of the third inning.

 

Kaiden Maurer doubled, scoring two, Mitch Williams singled, scoring one, Andy Munjoy doubled scoring one, Ace Giles singled scoring one, an error scored one, and Connor Kelly singled scoring one.

 

Colton Gatton hit a solo home run to left field in the bottom of the third for Taylorville.

 

Ian Reid earned the win for the Trojans on the mound. Reid gave up 10 hits and 5 runs, over five innings, striking out two and walking none. 

 

Isacc Repscher took the loss for Taylorville. The southpaw went two innings, surrendering eight runs on six hits, striking out two and walking two.

 

The Trojans accumulated 16 hits in the game. Kaiden Maurer set the tone at the top of the lineup with 4 hits in 5 at-bats. Zayn Giles, Mitch Williams, and Ace Giles each collected multiple hits for the Trojans.

 

Maroa-Forsyth will travel to Neoga for their next game on Saturday.
