Maroons fall to Hilltoppers

The Clinton Maroons fell to the Mount Pulaski 4-1 on Friday.

 

Mount Pulaski opened the scoring in the second inning after Carter Clark hit a sacrifice fly, scoring one run.

 

Josh Bass grounded out, which helped Clinton tie the game at one in the top of the third.

 

A single by Chance Payne gave the Hilltoppers the lead 2-1, in the bottom of the third. The Hilltoppers opened the floodgates in the bottom of the 6th inning courtesy of a home run to left field by Luke Martin, for his third on the season.

Chance Payne earned the win for Mount Pulaski. The lefty allowed two hits and one run over 6 and 2/3 innings while striking out 16 and walking 1.

 

Brock Wilson took the loss for Clinton. Wilson went 5 innings, surrendering two runs, on four hits while striking out seven and walking two.

 

Colton Walker and Brooks Cluver collected one hit each for the Maroons. Josh Bass had the one RBI.

 

The Maroons travel to Macon-Meridian for their next game on Tuesday.
