In a game heard on WHOW, Thea Key hit a walk-off grand slam in the bottom of the fifth inning giving Monticello a 16-4, run-rule win over Tri-Valley in non-conference softball action at the Wilkey Complex in Monticello Tuesday.
Key drove in five runs on the day finishing 2-for-4 with two runs scored. Key was the ServPro for Piatt/DeWitt Counties Player of the Game. Marissa Miller was 2-for-3 with three runs scored and a walk.
The Lady Sages took advantage of sloppy defense at times for the Lady Vikings. Tri-Valley was back in action for the first time in over a week as they did not play due to spring break.
Cassidee Stoeffel drove in two runs finishing 2-for-4. The sophomore was struck out six in five innings picking up the win in circle for Monticello.
Ali Weidner scored three runs finishing with a pair of walks and reached on an error.
The Lady Sages are scheduled to travel to Oakwood on Thursday.
