HS Baseball: Big 7th Inning Propels Normal West Past Bloomington

Normal West scored five runs in the top of the seventh inning and got by its in-town rival Bloomington 8-5 Friday afternoon in Big 12 high school baseball action in Bloomington.

 

Tyler Dowling twirled six innings of excellent baseball for the Raiders. The junior allowed three runs, two were earned, on six hits with two walks and six strikeouts.

 

The Wildcats were paced by Blake Crancer who finished 3-for-3 with three runs scored and an RBI. Sam DesCarpentrie was 2-for-4 while Alex Olson, Sean Jenkins, and Taylor Hafermann. 

 

Trent Durham went four innings for Normal West allowing three runs on four hits with two walks and struck out five.

 

Chase Reinhart threw three hitless innings of relief with four strikeouts.

 

Bloomington falls 6-4 overall. They are in Peoria today (Saturday) to take on Peoria Notre Dame. 

 

Normal West is 5-5 overall and 1-0 in the Big 12. The Wildcats take on Urbana today (Saturday) in more Big 12 action.
